Why So Sad Lee Jun Ki?

Is it just me or or the suit? Lee Jun Ki (Il Ji Mae) looks so serious and maybe angry on this photo. Where’s the pretty LJK? You know, the feminine looking guy whose face is as smooth as Song Hye Kyo‘s.

I have never seen him so serious. I guess he had to because he was sitting and talking with the public officials in  Seoul City Hall and discussed about the upcoming Korean Wave Festival 2008 that will happen on October 23-26 in Seoul. This will be a Hallyu star-studded event.

The city of Seoul organized this event in order to attract tourists from all over the world and raise funds for the disaster planning program “ASIA AID”.

Lee Jun Ki is the ambassador of  wichok.

4th of July

I remember when I was in 4th grade (Philippines), my teacher asked our class “what is so special about the date 4th of July?”. I reluctantly raised my hands to proudly answer her question. I said “Pesta Sa Laray” (Fiesta in Laray). I couldn’t forget my teacher’s face on how she tried not to laugh at my answer. She said I was right because July 4th was indeed the day of  Laray Fiesta (Laray is the name of the “barrio” where I grew up) but she was kind enough to explain in our class  the July 4th’s importance especially among the Americans.

Tomorrow, United States will celebrate Independence Day or commonly known as Fourth of July  (4th of July). This is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.

But what is 4th of July to most people in America?

Fourth of July is the day when everyone fires up the grill and burn some steaks or burgers and have a “partay” at the pool or at the bug infested backyards.  Other people prefer to go to the amusement parks or anywhere where fireworks are being displayed and get enchanted with the colorful skies. This is also the time when state troopers in cooperation with sherrifs and police forces patrol the roads and highways to catch drunk drivers or simply respond to motor vehicle accidents or alcohol related violence.

Fourth of July is the time where people flactuates to the beach to get some tan and have some fun. As for me, I stay under an umbrella most of the time because I am already brown and I am scared to get brown-er (hah! like I can hide from the sun).

What else? Did I fail to mention anything?

Oh yeah! The patriotic people will rally on the streets and wave the American flag to signify their pride and gratitude of having to enjoy the hundreds of years of freedom (and counting).

In what way is Fourth of July properly celebrated? Well, the answer is up to you.

I may be a naturalized citizen but my respect and love for this country is as great as natural born citizens’.  Appreciation, pride, love, and respect of this country cannot be measured by  how you celebrate the commemoration but it is measured by how you fulfill your duties and responsibilities as a citizen of this great nation.

I may have a week of no blog entry because like all the other Americans, I will be spending a week at the beach starting this weekend. I will take my laptop with me but I doubt if I even turn the thing on.

Happy Fourth of July ya’ll!
